1-on-1 Workshops

with Jeff Carpenter

About your instructor - Jeff Carpenter is a commercial portrait and headshot photographer, educator, and owner of Readylight Media, a visual media and marketing agency based outside of Nashville, TN. He started his photography career in 2010, shortly after college where he was required to take a photography class in order to graduate.  Being a predominantly self-taught photographer, he developed a passion for educating in a way that was simple and easy to understand. His main goal as an educator is to teach the fundamentals of photography and lighting, allowing photographers to absorb information and apply it to their style of shooting. 

1-on-1 Worksop FAQ

  • What will I learn at a 1-on-1 workshop? - The possibilities are pretty much endless with 1-on-1 workshops. Whether you want to learn a specific lighting technique or even hone in on your retouching skills, anything you want to learn is on the table. A majority of classes revolve around lighting where we will cover the fundamentals of lighting and expand on that to fit your style of photography.

  • Where do the workshops take place? - Most workshops will be held at Jeff's home studio in Franklin, TN. However, a workshop can be scheduled at any location with travel and lodging cost added to the price of the class.

  • How much does a 1-on-1 workshop cost? - There are 2 different workshop options, a full day workshop (8 hours) for $1,300 or a half day workshop (4 hours) for $700. Both workshops include a model and the 8 hour workshop includes a lunch option as well.

  • What do I need to bring? - You will definitely need to bring a camera and lens. Jeff typically shoots between 70mm and 135mm for portraits, but you can bring any lens you want that fits your style of shooting. You will also need to bring your own memory card, and a laptop if you want to tether, or cover any retouching at your workshop.

  • What if I have questions after the workshop? - After you book your workshop you will be invited to join the NEXT LEVEL Workshop Community on Facebook where you can share images with other people who have attended workshops in the past and also ask Jeff or other community members questions.

  • What if I can't make a workshop in person? - We have recently started offering virtual 1-on-1 workshops that will be conducted via google hangout. These 1 hour virtual workshops are $350 and can be scheduled at your convenience. If you would like to find out more information about virtual workshops, click here!
